Caring For Your Flowers

When you receive flowers from us, please remember to:

1. Place the flowers in a vase with fresh, lukewarm water and use the flower food provided. DO NOT use metal containers!
2. Cut the flower stems at an angle and remove any leaves that will fall below the water level. This will ensure that the leaves do not contaminate the water.
3. Change the water ever few days and keep topping it up inbetween.
4. Keep away from sources of heat, direct sunlight and draughts.
5. Your flowers may appear to be droopy after transit, but after a few hours they will rehydrate and fully recover - they just need a good drink!

Special Instructions for:

Carnations
Carnations are normally sent out whilst very young and still in bud, ready to open at home for maximum longevity. Never cut on the joints of the stems.

Freesia
To encourage extra flowering, pinch off dead or dying flower blooms, just as you would do in your garden. Freesias need lots of water, so keep topping up the vase.

Lilies
Lilies are usually sent out in bud, ready to open at home for maximum longevity.

Lilies require tall vases to support the weight of the stems. Lily pollen can stain clothing, furniture or worktops - you can remove the stamens to avoid this if you like. However, if pollen does fall onto a surface it is best removed decliately with sellotape. Lily pollen can be dangerous to cats and other household pets.

Rose Care:
To stop the roses from drooping, after cutting the stems stand them in one inch of boiling water for 30 seconds before placing them in a vase as fresh lukewarm water.

A characteristic on some roses is a dark tinge on the outer protective petals - this occurs naturally during transit and is not a flaw. Simply remove these petals from the roses to enjoy their full beauty!

Oriental Dendrobium Orchids
These tropical flowers will stay at their best when you follow the instructions below:

If your Orchids are wilted on arrival, simply submerge the whole Orchid sprays for a maximum of 10-15 mins in cool tap water. Be sure to untangle the stems with care, trim up to 5cm off the stems at an angle and place the flowers in a clean vase of water with the flower food provided. Dying flowers can be continually removed to enocourage more to bloom.
